Bored series

Well the weathers been draining my spirit and health like crazy, large amounts of sugar and caffeine is holding me up, but its been cold, wet and miserable these past few days.

Since its been one of those days when I haven’t much to do (since my motivation was sapped) I needed to do another bored series image, quick design using a mix of Blender and Zbrush sculpting. I would have had a reasonably nice video but I got the setting horribly wrong and 32gb later had to scrap the video completely, all I have left is the timelapse from Zbrush part. Which also is a incomplete. But I pushed on and ended up making a cartoonish Rhino for a wallpaper.

As mentioned about 30% blender, 60% Zbrush, last 10% is a little combining renders in photoshop.

After getting some feedback on the bike I did another version of the scene, since some found the last lot too dark. I also wacked up the reflectiveness and basically set all the settings to max. 1500 cycles 3 hours to render.

Last one for now, till i finish off the other things I have to do.

Quick Akira Bike update

Whilst I was busying myself with the final bits of the Kobold Bard I realised I had never posted the Akira bike with the stickers on. So here are some shots of the Bike. More to come soon on the Kobold (ie I think tomorrow).

Hello all been quiet but not lazy, finished a piece for Mr Canty. Sort of a fusion of the original Drossel Von Flügel and the new/old? Fireball version.
Also got bored and messed about doing a mix of the old tron disc and the newer versions.

Just fyi the model got two modes, one is more of a going out hot pants sort of look the others more in keeping with the original design, you decide which is better.

The models are riggable and relatively low poly, the final piece was separated into skeleton and armour packages to help make the rigging process easier.

So you got this far why not take a look at the kickstarter page, we’ve nearly made the half way mark on the asking amount and if you would like to get yourself some cool swag whilst getting some well known and excellent artists a head start drop a few bucks and feel all glowy inside :) (ok that was a little too syrupy) but still take a look its got some great potential.

Morning all, Im working on my projects which at the minute includes this 3D version of the Drossel Image I made a few days ago. Its still being tweaked as I tye but after this Im building the Armour to go over it, Commissioned by Jason Canty of Angry Viking Press His Kickstarter is moving slowly into target amount he’s after but every little helps, if you have a few bucks please consider giving some of it to the Kickstarter, it would really help with his plans, (which after explaining what he has planned for the future could REALLY do with going way over its asking amount to get everything planned). I have my own options there but if you cant or don’t want to take any of those options there’s a lot of other cool choices on offer. So give a quick look if you can please :) .

Akira Bike Wheel Burn Video tests

Would have had more to show, but unfortunately I had a number of errors and lost work that will have to be redone, so till then here is series of tests that I’m working on to add something to the turntable display.

Test 01 – Good result but add issues with the side parts of the wheel, so more work needed. Render time 15mins

Test 02 – Changed a number of settings on the floor, adding a amount of stickyness to the tire to have the smoke cling a little more. Render time 15mins

Test 03 – Adding a little movement, managed to clear the smoke from the sides. Render time 30mins

Test 04 – Similar scene with a black background to make it easier to see, need to clear the grippyness of the smoke now as it seems to be a little too heavy off the ground now. Render time 40mins.

One more before I try for a cycles animation or this Motorbike

5 hours and 750 renders later I finished off another render of the bike with a scene to make it better fit in. Simple scene took about 20 mins tops, includes the garage, a door, items (cupboards, table, tools drawer), and background scene with streetlights.

Enjoy.

After this I’m working on a turntable animation of the whole bike which will have the stickers included on the bike (finally).

So yes, hmm seems Ive hit a spot with this creation, so here is a few renders for mock posters of the up coming Akira film (2013), however!, if your one to prefer either the correct date for the setting (2030) I have you covered, or just have it based on the original release date (1988) got that covered too.

Also included a few designed with a retro flair to be more in keeping with the Manga.

Also thinking of making t-shirts out of them, anyone interested?

More work on the bike, followed a material tutorial for a metallic sheen through cycles by MrLasla

Now Im adding the asymmetrical details to the bike along with the dashboard and vents.

After that I have to decide if Im going to retopologize the whole lot into one piece, or do them seperatly ,and then add the displacements and stickers after.

Quick edit:

I had the image loaded up on my laptop and it came out quite washed out. Worryingly I redid the lighting using my laptop, added a extra 200 cycles and moved the camera a little to give it a more side profile.
