Well I haven’t had too much to report, I have been working my butt off on several projects to do with Maya, I’m going to post some w.i.p.s I’m currently near completing, however I’m having issue with the hair programs on offer in Maya and pretty much every 3d program. Until recently I would only say there were possibly 2 3d hair programs that were possibly worth the time to learn, one being Sasquatch (Lightwave) and the other Hairfarm (3dsmax), however one is on a program that is slowly becoming overrun by newer updated software(LW) and the other is far too expensive to afford for someone like me at present (HF). This leaves the program Shave and haircut or Maya’s own hair program. Both are time consuming and filled with problems like crashes, and pc slowdown once you start to have a lot of hair to work with. Then there are the headaches later if I were to try and animate my character once they have hair applied, currently Im building additional low poly parts that take care of the hair on their own instead the whole body being covered. However Im having to plan more on the ways these different parts will all move along with the body once I get it all rigged.
Anyway Ill leave it there for now.
Here is two projects that are nearing completion.
StoneDog: A Japanese statue I took images of in late 2008 and built in Maya in 2-3 days, good practise and it helped me find shortcuts in Maya that helped me work around my old ways of modelling in 3dsMax.

SG: Cant really mention where this came from yet as its a surprise but it was completed in 3 days and now its onto working out the texturing and hair, also rigging and just about everything else needed in a hairy moving creature. (So far only the eye patch and the mohawk are done the rest will follow.

And because its seems like everyone is compelled to make these things when they mess with hair programs I include these as just stuff that was used to test out the way the programs work, I wont be making a moving floating ball of hair also, seems kind of pointless with the amount available on Youtube.
